Grand Prix Magazynu Wino

Explaining Barolo Serralunga 2007 with Ewa and TomekI was very happy to have been invited earlier this month to Warsaw, for the Grand Prix wine tasting of Magazyn Wino, the most important national magazine for the industry. I was quite proud to be the only representative of Piedmont at an event the gathers together the entire world of wine in Poland.  The guest of honour was Franciacorta and its sparkling wines, promoted by the Elisabetta Babinska Poletti, who I would like to have as the director of all of the ICEs in the world :)

I have been visiting Poland for quite some time now and it was a pleasure to see many of friends again that I first met ten years ago and who have now become journalists on an international scale, such as Tomasz Prange Barcynski, Wiktor Bruszewski,Wojchiech Bonkowski, Andrzej Daskiewicz and Ewa Wielezinska. The Poland of wine is young, well-trained, curious and highly organized.

It was with great pride that I watched the prize for the best importer of the year go to wina.pl. Congratulations to Piotr and Gosia Luty, who have distributed Rivetto wines for many years and dedicate themselves with passion to this fascinating but complex professione.

Franco Ziliani was also there, specially invited from Italy, who will certainly publish an interesting post on his popular blog www.vinoalvino.org. I am convinced that he will divert Italians’ attention to this healthy and growing European market.

I brought three wines with me for the tasting table: the Langhe Nascetta 2010, the Barbera d’Alba Zio Nando 2009 and the Barolo Leon 2006 out of the desire to offer a broad representative sample from our fantastic territory to Polish wine lovers.

A special thanks goes to the two splendid Kasies (Sczulc and Niemyjska), who silently organized the event in an impeccable and professional way.
