The second day of Nebbiolo Prima was intense, at 12 at our showroom in piazza Garibaldi 2 in Alba came the most respected Croatian wine journalist: Zeliko Suhadolnik. He writes fro Svijet Ucasi from Zagabria and we appreciated, as aperitivo, the new Langhe Bianco 2009 from Nascetta grapevines, the indigenous Langa grapevine, rediscovered recently.
In the afternoon, I received a pleasant visit from Francesco Falcone, who writes for Enogea. We visited the vineyards and the cellar, taking advantage of the amazing spring day.
Also, I had the pleasure to host Tien-Li Lin (Denis), freelance journalist for the biggest Asian wine magazines, and blogger. We organized a Barolo vertical: Barolo Giulin 1996, Barolo Leon 1997, Barolo Leon 1999, Barolo Riserva 2001, Barolo Riserva 2004. I inserted an interesting intruder, the Barbera d’Alba Zio Nando 2001. All wines were amazing, Denis particularly appreciated the Barolo 1999 and 2004.
The evolution of Barbera Zio Nando was also interesting: it has a particular acidity, force and structure made it possible to bear the comparison with the far more complex Nebbiolo. Later, we were joined by Paolo Repetto, a schoolmate of mine, and founder at Vinifera, an agency for representing wines on the Italian territory. We had a very interesting discussion on ideas and market analysis, on the China potential, next week I’ll be at Vinexpo in Hong Kong, and then in Peking: I will keep you posted. Follow me!
