Drinkable quality – the Barbera d'Alba Lirano Soprano 2007

Barbera d’Alba’s Lirano Soprano 2007 is very much to my liking because it marries strength with softness, muscularity with finesse. The challenge is always to succeed in producing a great wine despite the tender age of the vineyard (4 years), which is only achieved with a careful choosing of the grape clusters over the summer. This Barbera is the expression of the hot 2007 and of the amazing Lirano lands situated between Sinio and Serralunga d’Alba.

I am delighted to see Lirano Soprano appear in Decanter, the United Kingdoms’s most important wine magazine, and being awarded 4 stars. I believe this expressed appreciation is both for its “drinkable quality” as much as for the uniqueness of its style. Total bottles are only around two thousand in all – it will not be produced in 2008 – with its official launch on the market being arranged for this summer. I hope that I have given you a fancy for Lirano Soprano and I look forward to your comments!
