The incessant rain seems to have finally left us, but the bizarre weather conditions haven’t gone away: a blanket of humidity has enveloped the Langhe since the beginning of May. The attached diagram clearly shows it. Follow the violet curve and you can see nocturnal peaks equal to 97% humidity, quite an incredible condition for this period, enough to bring fog in the morning. All of this definitely doesn’t favor our vineyards since this condition of extreme humidity favors the development of funguses. I heard from some colleagues that there have already been some Peronospora infestations, especially in the low parts of some of the hills. 2015 begins with medium/high disease alert. We’re hoping for the arrival of a bit of wind and sun.
