The ancient Celts said that every tree possesses a spirit which defends it, keeps it alive, and causes trouble to whoever cuts it down. When wood was needed for building or fire, permission was asked to the spirit and part of the tree was replanted in order to avoid curses and revenge.
In Langa, for the last 50 years, we have caused a savage deforestation which has brought a general impoverishment to the local flora and fauna as well as the general balance of nature.
In 2016 we started an internal project of company multi-vitality. We planted a dozen forest trees, 350 roses, and over a hundred fruit trees of older varieties or ones resistant to disease. There are now oases of grass and functional shrubs across the vineyard. Moreover, we’re planning the creation of an eco-vineyard for 2017-2018 and more trees that will either frame or cross the long and monotone rows of vines.
The photos give an idea of the operation, but they’ll show their beauty in the spring/summer and you can be sure I’ll keep you updated.
It’s an important project which indirectly affects the vineyard and does not create an immediate advantage. However, it satisfies those who make it and it will make whoever sees it happy.
