Barolo Serralunga ’06: 16th place in the Wine Spectator Top 100

I won’t disguise my joy at receiving this major recognition; it is a pleasure to be considered the second Barolo and the third Italian wine in the world by the prestigious magazine, Wine Spectator. The satisfaction does not lie solely in the positioning, but it is proof of the fact that work pays off; the union of family and the seriousness of the “team” are fundamental and determining factors in the achievement of goals. See the Top100 entire list and our Barolo Serralunga This recognition is a symbol, it is a sign that we need to continue in this direction; … Continua

Langhe Nebbiolo Lirano 2008: at the TOP

The April issue of Wine Spectator , dedicated to Piedmont, has arrived, and in addition to the already noted rating of 95 for the Barolo Serralunga 2006 in the TOP WINES section, we find the Nebbiolo Langhe Lirano 2008 with 89 points. Bruce Sanderson tasted more than 475 wines and among these the quality/price ratio of our Nebbiolo was a winning combination and included in the TOP VALUES section. This wine is striking for its extraordinary refinement, exceptional capacity for aging and good tannicity. Pleasing and drinkable, fruity and balanced with good body, it fully represents the characteristics of a … Continua

B&B: fresh new colours for your holidays

I live where others choose to spend their vacations, to enjoy life. Sometime I forget this, because daily life distracts me, but then I see a foreign license plate, hear a different accent, glimpse a bilingual sign … little details that remind me that I am lucky. This time the detail is a newly-painted wall: the rooms of the Rivetto B&B were just renovated and are now ready to welcome the tourists who will visit our hills to enjoy exceptional wines, good food, visits to monuments … or simply relaxation, happy to look out the window at the Castle of … Continua

Rivetto – Montanera: twin cities and cinema

The Barbaresco Cè Vanin will depart from Montanera for Spain on Saturday, 9 April. Jaime Montanera, already an honorary citizen, will visit the centre of “cuneese”, twinned with the Catalan town of Val De Boì, for the occasion of the traditional delivery of the Palmon. Francesco Dadone, mayor of Montanera will reciprocate the homage of the Spanish delegation with our Barbaresco, which he had the opportunity to appreciate at a tasting led by Alessandro last February. A curiosity: the town is the birthplace of Giuseppe Filippi, the first Italian film cameraman. The gift is thematic and Sergio signed the label … Continua

95 for the Barolo Serralunga 2006

Decanter awarded it the Gold Medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards 2010. Wine Enthusiast gave it an “enthusiastic” 94. And today it is Wine Spectator to celebrate our Barolo Serralunga 2006 with a gratifying 95 from Bruce Sanderson who confirms our expectations: only the best of a well-suited zone, that of Serralunga d’Alba, gives 100% of the Nebbiolo grape, bestowing it with refinement, ageing capacity and powerful tannins …very characteristic. From the union of the Manocino and San Bernardo vineyards, located at high elevations that produce Nebbiolo grapes with a good level of acidity and late maturation, and the … Continua

Barbaresco in high resolution: Hereafter and Rivetto

We have found a few high resolution frames of the scene of the film Hereafter in which the Rivetto Barbaresco is display, which we are sharing with you here, just long enough to show off the bottle without coming into conflict with copyright laws. Clint Eastwood uses a wine metaphor in order to make us empathize with one of the three protagonists: the Barbaresco creates conviviality, it melts the ice, and it creates a pleasant and almost complicit atmosphere among the strangers taking part in the cooking class. It is not served with food: it is a magical element that has a … Continua

The new Rivetto brochure, hot off the press

Dedicated to those who love paper, because it is an emotional medium, because it has a “human” touch, because it transmits positivity: the new Rivetto brochure is here! Simple, rich in imagery, and selecting just a few choice words, it focuses on the people, the wines, and the territory with sections on our agriturismo, our wine shop, and our web presence: the whole world of Rivetto on two sides printed in vibrant colors on fine paper. Classic and pleasing to the touch. Touch to believe!

BAROLO LEON 2006: To age is beautiful

It was worth the wait for those of us who shaped it, since we were imagining the result: a wine ready to meet the expectations of the most demanding. One extra year signifies a great sacrifice for the business but also a great respect for the wine, a respect that begins in the vineyards, with the careful selection that precedes the grape harvest

Mama’s Tagliatelle

Tagliatelle are today’s protagonists: They were the stars at a pre-holiday lunch in honour of the sixty-fifth birthday of mama Paola. Rigorously made by hand, they were accompanied by an exquisite meat sauce that is typical of the Langhe. Knowing that the birthday girl is a lover of the Barbera grape, I specifically wanted to choose the Barbera d’Alba Zio Nando 2008, which matched wonderfully with this typical first-course dish from the Piedmont tradition. It is true that one’s mom is always one’s mom, but the tagliatelle that mine makes are simply fabulous. And I ask myself, why is it … Continua

Duemilavini

And here for your reading enjoyment is the review that led to our mention in the guide, Duemilavini, published by the Association of Italian Sommelliers. It is a good result, if one keeps in mind that it is the first time that we have been included in the guide.
